1. My Amateur Radio Station             

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Heon-Jo Lee from Korea (Republic of) and my handle is Lee.

I am a life member of the Korean Amateur Radio League (KARL, call sign ; HL0HQ) since 1975.

Also, as a volunteer member of UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund) since 1992, I am serving for all children who need our helping over the world. Our these efforts will mean continued progress the fight against hunger, disease and ignorance among the children of the world!

Also I was active as an official engineer of the 10th Asian Games Seoul 1986, the 24th Olympic Games Seoul 1988, the 2002 FIFA Worldcup Korea Japan, the 14th Asian Games Busan 2002 and the 8th FESPIC Games Busan 2002.

Now my licence is the 1st class amateur radio operator (No. 91510009) acquired in 1991. My initial licence was the 2nd class amateur radio operator issued in 1975.

Also I have other licences such as the radio facilities engineer (No. 802205211), the special grade information and telecommunications engineer (No. 101200000537L), the special grade information and telecommunications administrator (No. 11010272), the middle class electric power engineer (No. 10-047394), the middle class electric power administrator (No. 10-042273) and the 2nd class internet and computer qualification engineer (No. TIQ-00-2084805) as professional.

My call sign is HL1IWM as you can see topside. My amateur radio station has been opened since Oct. 1987.

Please call me when you receive my signals, and turn your beam antenna in direction of my QTH L3730 N G12652 E in Seoul, Korea. The zone numbers are ITU zone 44, CQ zone 25 and KDN A26. Also my grid location is PM37kl.

My operating modes are 5 modes such as CW, RTTY, SSB, FM and SSTV.

My operation bands are 11 bands such as 3.5MHz, 7MHz, 10MHz, 14MHz, 18MHz, 21MHz, 24MHz, 28MHz, 50MHz, 144MHz and 430MHz.


2. My Equipments and Accessories

2.1 The HF Radio Equipments

My beginning HF radio equipment was the SSB transceiver Yaesu FT-DX400 in 1978. The next radio equipment was the SSB transceiver Kenwood TS-130S in 1987. And the third radio equipment was the all mode transceiver Kenwood TS-140S in 1990.

Yaesu FT-DX400 was my initial radio equipment for SWL in 1978

Now I am using the all mode transceiver Kenwood TS-440S as the 4th radio equipment for HF band. My full line TS-440S is composed of full optional accessories such as the DC power supply PS-50, the external speaker SP-430, the stand microphone MC-60A. My TS-440S transceiver has built-into original optional accessories such as the automatic antenna tuner AT-440, the voice synthesizer VS-1, the CTCSS tone encoder TU-8, the CW crystal filter YK-88C, the SSB narrow crystal filter YK-88SN, the interface IC kit IC-10.

This TS-440S transceiver is controlled by the notebook computer NEC Versa Lite FX with my home-brew IF-232C as the RS-232C interface between the computer and TS-440S.

Also as another HF radio equipment, I am using the HF transceiver Yaesu FT-101E. This FT-101E is composed of optional accessories such as the external VFO FV-101B, the external speaker SP-101PB and the monitor scope YO-100. The Spectronics DD-1 is optioned as FT-101E digital display.

Of cause my FT-101E has built-into original optional accessories such as the CW filter XF-30C, the crystal control and RF processor unit PB-1494, the JJY/WWV (10MHz) band crystal 16.02MHz, the 11m (27MHz) band crystal 33.02MHz, the AC 117V fan, and the DC-DC converter. And my homebrew VFO frequency stabiliser is used with FT-101E.

2.2 The V/UHF radio equipments

My V/UHF radio equipments are the 2m band (144MHz) all mode transceiver Kenwood TR-751 and the V/UHF band hand-held FM transceiver Yaesu FT-530.

The linear amplifier Tokyo Hy-Power HL-62V (output power 50W) and the 2m to 6m (50MHz) transverter Se-Jong IR-26A (output power 10W) are used with these V/UHF radio equipments.

2.3 The Accessories for Rradio Equipments

As other accessories, I have Kenpro KK-50 and Llaves Telegraficas Artesanas LT-BBC as the CW hand key. And the CW/RTTY decoder KAOS KAOS-600 are used for CW and RTTY operation. Also I am using the SSTV scan converter Telereader TSC-100 and the audio DSP filter Telereader TDF-320 for SSTV operation.

Also my homebrew PC to TRCV Data Mode Interface for CW/RTTY/SSTV operation are used between the computer and the radio equipment.

3. My Measurement Equipments and Computer Systems

3.1 The Test and Measurement Equipments

Almost the RF test instruments are using as my test and measurement equipments.

The audio generator/RMS volt metre Leader LAG-57S, the FM/AM RF signal generator AUL SG-1144/U and the digital synthesized FM/AM RF signal generator Jungjin JSG-1070A are using for the signal sources.

The tester Kingdom ETU-3030TC, the digital multi metre Teston DM-1000, the programmable digital multi metre Tektronix DM-2510G and the vacuum tube volt metre Hewlett Packard Model 410C are using for the DC/AC V/A/Ohm multi metres.

The digital LCR metre Extech Model 380193 and the tube tester Dyna Jet Model 606 are using for the parts testers.

The digital RMS volt metre Hewlett Packard Model 3403C, SWR/power metre Welz SP-10X and Diamond SX-100, and digital SWR/power metre Daiwa DP-830 are using for the RF signal metres.

The digital frequency counter Leader LDC-825, the oscilloscope Kenwood CS-5165 and the spectrum analyaer Hung Chang 7802 are using for the RF signal frequency and wave instruments.

And also homebrew 50 ohm 100W, Bird Model 8135 and Radio Shack Model 21-506 are using as the dummy loads.

3.2 The Personal Computer System and Softwares for my HAM Life

The computer system for my ham life is Intel Pentium III 400MHz CPU.built into the notebook computer NEC Versa Lite FX.

My using softwares are Silicon Pixels' CromaPIX (Version 1.6) for SSTV operation, UA9OSV's CwGet (Version 1.22) and CwType (Version 1.12) for CW operation, TrueTTY (Version 1.90) for RTTY operation. Also my logging and control software for TS-440S is FineWare's Smart Kenwood Control 32 (Version 3.23).

4. My Antennas and Accessories

4.1 The HF Antennas

My HF antennas for multi-bands installed on the roof (high 60m) of the apartment are the GP antenna Cushcraft R-7000 (7/10/14/18/21/24/28MHz bands), the doublet antenna Diamond W-728 (7/21/28MHz bands) added my homebrew 14MHz dipole. Also the whip antenna with loading coil CV Texas Mobile BRmo2 (3.5/3.8/7/10/14/18/21/24/27/28/50MHz bands) made by http://www.cvant.com/ has been installed at the balcony (high 24m) of my shack room for contingency.
